Hair Serum in Pakistan – What It Actually Does

A serum coats your hair — it doesn't repair it. Knowing that changes how you use one, and which of the twelve we stock is right for you. From Rs. 650.

Hair Serum in Pakistan

A hair serum does one job well and several jobs not at all, and knowing the difference will save you money.

It coats the outside of the hair — smoothing the cuticle so light reflects evenly and strands stop catching on each other. That is what makes hair look glossy and feel silky within seconds of applying it.

What it does not do is nourish, strengthen or repair. Those are jobs for oils, masks and time. A serum is cosmetic, and it works immediately, which is exactly why it feels more effective than it is.

Serum, Oil or Tonic?

These three get confused constantly, and using the wrong one is why some people conclude none of them work.

Never apply serum to your scalp. It will make your roots look greasy within hours and does nothing useful there. Serum goes on the mid-lengths and ends only.

What We Stock

Livon Serum — Rs. 650 · 50ml

The entry point, and the one most people should start with. A lightweight everyday serum for all hair types that controls frizz and adds shine. Small bottle, so it suits testing whether serums work for you before committing to something larger.

Rivaj Aloe Vera Coconut Hair Serum — Rs. 840 · 40ml

Lighter than the keratin serums, with aloe and coconut. Suits fine hair that gets weighed down easily.

Rivaj Keratin Hair Serum — Rs. 999 · 40ml

Keratin coating for damaged hair. Worth understanding what this does: the keratin molecules are too large to penetrate the hair shaft, so they sit on the surface, fill gaps and make hair feel stronger and look considerably better. That effect is real, and it washes out. It is not repair — nothing applied at home is.

Wellice VE Argan Hair Serum — Rs. 999 · 70ml

Argan oil with vitamin E. The best value per millilitre in the argan category at this price, and argan suits dry or heat-damaged hair particularly well.

Wellice Onion Hair Serum — Rs. 999 · 200ml

Formulated around onion extract, which has become popular for hair fall. At 200ml it is the largest bottle we stock by a wide margin. Note that a serum works on the hair shaft rather than the follicle — it can reduce breakage from combing, but it does not affect hair falling from the root.

Wellice 24K Gold Keratin Ampoule — Rs. 999

Ampoule format, meaning single-use doses rather than a pump bottle. Useful if you want an intensive treatment occasionally rather than daily use.

Rivaj Argan Serum for Dry & Frizzy Hair — Rs. 1,050 · 50ml

Aimed specifically at dry and frizzy hair, which is the most common complaint in humid coastal weather.

Enzo Hair Serum — Rs. 1,099 · 100ml

A larger 100ml bottle for smoothing and frizz control. Good value if you already know serums work for you.

Seen Beauty Perfume Hair Serum — Rs. 1,099

Fragrance-infused, so it doubles as a hair perfume. Worth knowing that fragrance on hair is common in South Asian and Gulf routines, and this is a cleaner way of doing it than spraying perfume directly onto hair, which dries it out with alcohol.

Argan Oil Sulfate-Free Keratin Nutrition Serum — Rs. 1,399 · 80ml

Sulfate-free, which matters if you have coloured hair — sulfates strip colour faster than anything else in a routine.

Sabalon Heat Potion Serum — Rs. 1,799

Heat protection. If you blow-dry or straighten regularly, this is the category that genuinely earns its price — heat damage is cumulative and irreversible, and a barrier before styling prevents it rather than treating it afterwards.

Karseell Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Serum — Rs. 1,899 · 50ml

The premium argan option, from a brand known for its collagen hair treatments.

Silicone or Water-Based?

Build-upYes, over timeMinimal

Silicones get criticised online and the criticism is overstated. They are not damaging — they build up on the hair over weeks, which makes it feel heavy and stops other products absorbing. A clarifying shampoo every two or three weeks resets it.

Frizz in Pakistani Weather

Frizz is not random. Hair frizzes when the cuticle is raised and the air is humid — the hair absorbs moisture from the air, swells unevenly, and lifts.

That is why frizz behaves differently in Karachi than in Lahore. In coastal humidity, hair pulls moisture from the air all day and frizz builds continuously. In dry inland heat, the opposite happens — hair loses moisture and becomes brittle and static-prone rather than puffy.

For humid conditions a silicone-based serum works better, because silicone forms a water-resistant seal that stops the hair absorbing moisture.

For dry conditions a lighter argan or oil-based serum works better, because the goal is holding moisture in rather than keeping it out.

How to Apply — Less Than You Think

Over-application is the universal serum mistake. Too much and hair looks greasy and limp, which is the opposite of the point.

  1. Start with towel-dried, damp hair. Serum spreads far more evenly on damp hair than dry, so you need less.
  2. Two to three drops for short or fine hair. Four to six for long or thick. Start at the lower end.
  3. Warm it between your palms for a few seconds.
  4. Apply to the ends first, then work upward to the mid-lengths.
  5. Stop well short of the scalp — roughly the bottom two-thirds of your hair.
  6. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb to distribute.
  7. Then style. If you are using heat, the serum needs to be on first.

If your hair looks greasy afterwards, you used too much or applied too close to the roots. Halve the amount next time.

Where a Serum Fits in Your Routine

  1. Oil the scalp — once or twice a week, before washing
  2. Shampoo
  3. Conditioner on the lengths, or a keratin mask weekly
  4. Serum on damp mid-lengths and ends
  5. Style

Oil and serum are not alternatives — they do different jobs at different points. The oil feeds the scalp before washing; the serum protects the lengths after.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best hair serum in Pakistan?

It depends on your concern. Livon at Rs. 650 for everyday frizz control, argan or keratin serums from Rs. 999 for dry and damaged hair, and a heat protection serum if you style with heat regularly.

What does hair serum actually do?

It coats the outside of the hair to smooth the cuticle — controlling frizz, adding shine, easing detangling and protecting against heat. It does not nourish or repair.

Can I use hair serum every day?

Yes, if you use a small amount and stay away from the scalp. Clarify every few weeks if you use a silicone-based one.

Should serum go on wet or dry hair?

Towel-dried and damp is best. It spreads more evenly, so you need less.

Does keratin serum repair damaged hair?

No. It coats the surface and fills gaps, which makes hair look and feel better. The keratin molecules are too large to enter the hair shaft. Real damage cannot be reversed at home.

Will hair serum stop hair fall?

No. Serum works on the hair shaft, not the follicle. It can reduce breakage from combing, but it does not affect hair falling from the root. If hair loss is rapid or patchy, see a doctor.

Can I use serum and oil together?

Yes. Oil the scalp before washing, serum on the lengths after. They do different jobs.
