Unisex Fragrances

This decides longevity more than the brand does.

If you have moved from an EDT to an EDP and people comment on your fragrance from across a room, you are applying EDT quantities to an EDP. Two sprays is enough.

Choosing for Pakistani Weather

This matters more here than most fragrance advice acknowledges.

Heat amplifies base notes. Amber, oud, vanilla and musk all become significantly stronger as temperature rises. A fragrance that smells rich in December can be overwhelming at two in the afternoon in June. The perfume did not change — the weather did.

Summer, May to September: fresh, citrus and aquatic. Halve your usual sprays. Cerulean Blue and Everyone both work.

Winter and wedding season, November to February: this is when oriental, amber and oud compositions finally make sense. Eternal Royal, Mukaab, Medusa, Lattafa Oud Mood.

Karachi versus Lahore: humid coastal air holds fragrance close and projects more, so use less. Dry inland heat evaporates it faster — but moisturising before you spray helps more than adding sprays.

How to Buy Original

Counterfeit fragrance is common in Pakistan, particularly in the run-up to wedding season. Four checks:

• Cellophane wrap should be machine-sealed and even. Loose or hand-applied film is a warning sign.
• Batch codes must match between the box and the base of the bottle. If they differ, or one is missing, it is not original.
• Bottle and cap — clear glass without bubbles, cap seating flush with a firm click.
• Spray pattern — a fine even mist, not a coarse jet.

Making It Last Longer

1. Apply to moisturised skin. Fragrance clings to oil. On dry skin it evaporates far faster — this single step can add two to three hours.
2. Target pulse points — base of the neck, behind the ears, wrists. Two or three spots is enough.
3. Never rub your wrists together. It destroys the top notes.
4. One spray on fabric. A dupatta or collar holds fragrance far longer than skin. Test a hidden corner first.
5. Store in the box, away from sunlight and heat. Never in a bathroom — steam degrades fragrance faster than anything else.
