Which one do you need?

Black or Dark Brown?

Black suits naturally black hair and gives deep, uniform coverage. Dark Brown reads more natural on hair that was never jet black, and blends grey rather than blocking it out — so the regrowth line is softer.

If unsure, choose Dark Brown. Going darker on a second application is easy. Lifting colour that came out too black is not.

Never apply serum to your scalp — it will make your roots look greasy within hours and does nothing useful there.

Technique matters more than the bottle. Most people use too much oil and massage too little, which is exactly backwards. Five to ten minutes of firm scalp massage does more than the quantity of oil ever will — and over-oiling means over-shampooing to remove it, which strips the scalp and undoes the benefit.

Do not oil the night before you colour your hair. The oil coats the shaft and blocks colour deposit, which is why some people find their colour comes out weak.

Hair Serums

A serum coats the outside of the hair to smooth the cuticle. That controls frizz, adds shine and eases detangling, and it works within seconds. What it does not do is nourish or repair — those are jobs for oils, masks and time.

Frizz behaves differently across Pakistan. In Karachi humidity, hair absorbs moisture from the air and frizz builds all day — a silicone-based serum seals against that. In Lahore's dry heat, hair loses moisture and turns brittle and static-prone instead — a lighter argan or oil-based serum suits better.

On keratin: the molecules in a serum are too large to enter the hair shaft, so they coat the surface, fill gaps and make hair feel stronger. That effect is real and it washes out. It is not repair, and nothing applied at home is.

Worth being straight about this. These products support scalp health, which helps. They do not treat the underlying causes of hair loss — stress, diet, illness, hormones, genetics. Masks work on the same principle as serums with longer contact time — 10 to 20 minutes rather than seconds — so the surface effect is more pronounced and lasts a few washes rather than one.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Two things matter more than brand.

Sulphates strip colour faster than anything else in your routine. If your hair is coloured, a sulphate-free shampoo is the single change that makes the biggest difference to how long it lasts.

Wash in cooler water and less often. Heat opens the cuticle and releases pigment. Every wash costs you colour.

A Routine That Works

1. Oil the scalp once or twice a week, before washing. Massage five to ten minutes, leave at least an hour.
2. Shampoo — sulphate-free if your hair is coloured.
3. Conditioner on the lengths, or a deep mask weekly.
4. Serum on damp mid-lengths and ends. Two to six drops, never on the scalp.
5. Style. If using heat, the serum goes on first.

Oil and serum are not alternatives — they do different jobs at different points. The oil feeds the scalp before washing; the serum protects the lengths after.
